Sonny L. Newman - President
As founder and president of EE Technologies, Sonny L. Newman drives strategic planning, operations and key growth initiatives in new and emerging markets. His responsibilities also include EE Technologies worldwide gaming and automotive sector businesses, which deliver strategic, high-value solutions to gaming and automotive companies around the world.
As a growing electronics manufacturing company, EE Technologies is dedicated to serving people, businesses and communities. EE Technologies commitment to innovation, improvement, and partnerships is creating employment opportunities that help fuel a continuous cycle of sustained social and economic development. Newman's leadership reflects these values and his deep personal commitment to customer and employee satisfaction, which results from long-term and trust-based relationships.
In 1995, Newman founded Meridian Electronics, an electronic component distribution company. His success with Meridian Electronics let to the creation of EE Technologies in 2000. Prior to these ventures, Newman served in many roles over a period of 15 years at Cubix. Working in each department within the company gave him invaluable perspective and experiences. As Director of Purchasing of Cubix, Newman led planning, procurement, and other services. Among his many notable accomplishments, significant reductions in costs, improvements in supplier relationships, enhanced delivery and service terms stand out.
Under Newman's leadership, EE Technologies has received many awards and acknowledgements including the 2001 Governor's Industry Appreciation Award, 2003 NAI Outstanding Supplier Award, 2004 International Game Technology Key Supplier Award, 2005 Governor's Industry Appreciation Expansion Company Award, 2007 Governor's Industry Appreciation Honoree Award, and 2007 MAP Presidential Award.
Newman was born in Montebello, California and raised in Whittier, California prior to moving to Nevada in 1976. He is married and has a son and a daughter.
Elizabeth Duffrin - Chief Financial Officer
As Chief Financial Officer for EE Technologies, Elizabeth Duffrin is responsible for the financial control and administrative operations of facilities in Reno, Nevada and Sonora, Mexico. In this role, Duffrin oversees the financial integrity, human resource activities, and technology infrastructure and support.
Prior to coming to EE Technologies in October 2003, Duffrin was Vice President of Finance for Washoe Health System. She started as a Senior Tax Accountant with Washoe Health System 14 years prior. Duffrin also worked in public accounting for many years after her graduation from the University of Nevada (UNR) with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.
Duffrin, a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), is an active participant on behalf of the company in many organizations including the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN). She also served as Vice President, President, and Past President of the Association for Financial Professionals of Northern Nevada (AFPNN) and is currently a board member. Duffrin is a member of the National Association for Financial Professionals (AFP), the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), and the Nevada Society of CPAs.
Duffrin has been married 23 years and has 2 daughters.
Phil Atchian - Vice President of Sales
Phil Atchian joined EE Technologies in August 2007 as Vice President of Sales and Marketing. In this role, Atchian leads the sales and service team with representatives across North America. He is based at EE Technologies headquarters in Reno, Nevada. Atchian is responsible for all aspects of sales and marketing, focusing his efforts on strategic relationships with key customers and on developing new accounts.
Before joining EE Technologies, Atchian was Regional Sales Manager with Future Electronics for 10 years. At Future, Atchian was responsible for growing the markets in Northern California and Northern Nevada, which he successfully achieved. He has spent 20 years of his career in electronics distribution. Prior to electronics distribution sales, Atchian was in electronics manufacturing for 15 years.
Atchian was born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in southern California. Atchian now resides in Carson City Nevada and has 3 children. He enjoys cars, sports and completing home projects.
David McDonald- Director of Operations
As the Director of Operations, David McDonald is responsible for both the day to day and strategic operations related to US and Mexico based manufacturing facilities. McDonald's functional responsibilities include leading an international team of professional and manufacturing operations staff tasked with all functions required for materials procurement, product introduction, manufacturing, product support, process development, and improvement.
David has over 20 years of high tech manufacturing experience with leading companies such as Nortel Networks, Motorola, and Dell Computers and has focused his career around the development and implementation of World Class product and manufacturing technologies. Through successive leadership positions he has been able to refine both business and engineering skills, and this has solidified a strong belief in a culture of professionalism, technical expertise and problem solving.
An avid triathlete and pilot, David enjoys personal challenges but considers his wife and family his greatest passion.
